Number 1 on my personal list of favorite feather-leaved / crown shafted palms so i completely understand the allure / desire to grow one ( …or a few, lol ).. They will feel heavier than the empty seeds as well. When looking at seeds on the Kopsick specimen(s), they will have a look that falls somewhere between those off Veitchia, and those off Foxtails.
- That is how you can tell the difference between foxtail and Foxy Lady hybrid.
- These conditions can significantly affect your ability to withdraw winnings.
- Good quality plant and amazing growth.
- 1 of each 3 and 7 is slightly variegated with 2 of each being greens.
- I wonder if the very elongated seed has more Veitchia traits and the more rounded F2 seed has the foxtail traits?
One is variegated and the other is not?? Are they famous because they are the first to produce viable seed? Are they the first two foxy ladies cultivated??? Being in tropical Cairns, they were probably seedlings 3 yrs ago. Already have an account?

Actually, light variegation is not a bad thing. Premier has sargentii seedlings and 7gal vinifera but they don’t know how to ship. I am lousy at keeping seedlings alive let alone sargentii seedlings! I am good with the outcome either way, but if you really want to rid yourself of that ‘ugly’ plant,I am ready to adopt.
- A guy in my area has them for sale pick up at 200 for a baby 1 gallon pot , he had 4 now he has 3 , i got one today and I am looking forward to watching it grow
- I have an f2 and am wondering how the look of the palm compares to f1.
- The seed looks pretty elongated, so I would think it would have a lot of Vetchia characteristics.
- Do you have a FULL shade spot under some trees or overhang?
- For the past few months, specimens are in the 1gal pot size, with the palm being around a 1’ in height, most are variegated form.
- When you germinated the seeds of the foxy lady and the foxtail did you plant them at the same time?

Regular ‘ol green specimens always look flawless. In all the years i have observed it, fronds on the variegated spec. The collection has a few standard green Foxies, and a Variegated specimen whose crown receives full sun. I’d suggest spending sometime at Kopsick Palmatium in St. Pete. So why does it seem the green is the better choice ?

I have 3-3g (one slight variegation) I do need to get better on checking my palm talk tho! Purchased several years ago as a seedling from a breeder in Florida. Was it grown from a seed made by nature or by manual cross pollination? Where did that palm originate? I hope/expect some new batches to hit the market sometime soon.
Hybrids seem to have a higher rate of growth for some reason. The seed looks pretty elongated, so I would think it would have a lot of Vetchia characteristics. Maybe something I might try to track as time goes on.

Myolensis triple and the (now infamous) foxy lady… Last year I added three Beccariophoenix alfredii, which I’m really liking so far due to their hardiness, and some Areca palms. I caught the “Palm tree bug” a few years ago when my wife and I wanted to add some planters to our yard, and I’ve been turned into a palm-tree nerd, as i call myself, ever since. So today is my 24 hour soak, I added some super thrive to the water at 1 tsp per gallon and am hoping that my plant drinks it up! Both are superbly grown, just needs to planted to adapt to So Cal conditions and watering.
Time will tell with my original plant… I’m encouraged to see some growth of the spear, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. So after a couple weeks of treatment, the remaining leaves are browning but I have noticed some minimal growth (a couple millimeters) of the spear.
I would LOVE to own that ‘ugly’ palm. I bought a 7 gallon from Premier Growers about 8 months ago and it’s already outgrowing the 25 gallon pot I moved it into. I have 3-7g (one slight variegation)
But I have had a foxy lady from came off of one of my foxtails…. Anyone have success foxy gold casino with seeds from a foxy lady? After many years and trees that are ungodly tall, my foxy lady, 1 of 2 dropped 2 very ripe very real looking seeds. I’m hoping that the foxy lady will turn all green it only has 1 frond that is variegated.
